MUTARE-BORN former Warriors fullback Onismor Bhasera has finally transitioned into coaching after he landed a role in the new senior technical team at South African Premiership side SuperSport United.
The ex-defender has rejoined Matsathantsa together with interim coach Andre Arendse and Grant Johnson following the expulsion of Gavin Hunt who had presided over the team’s poor run that left the Pretoria side battling relegation.
Although Bhasera’s specific role has not been confirmed, Post Sport understands that his appointment is earmarked for nurturing young talent at the club.
In a statement today, SuperSport United said: “Leadership. Experience. Spartan! Onismor Bhasera returns to help guide the team forward as part of Andre Arendse and Grant Johnson’s technical team. Welcome back, Bash. Your experience and passion for the game will be key for the road ahead.”
The club described the former defender as boasting “wealth of experience and deep understanding of the game . . . to reinforce SuperSport United’s commitment to nurturing talent and maintaining a competitive edge in the league.”
SuperSport United added that Bhasera “familiarity with the club’s philosophy and his ability to connect with players on a personal level” would be key in fulfilling the club’s mission.
