Chipinge woman buries new-born baby in garden

A CHIPINGE woman, Tariro Guzete, has been convicted of concealing a birth after giving birth in a toilet and burying the baby’s body in a nearby garden.

She was sentenced to perform 140 hours of community service at Chipinge Magistrates’ Court by Ms Cathrene Dzivanyika.

Ms Pamela Mufudza prosecuted.

The incident came to light when Guzete’s young sister saw her exiting the toilet with a plastic bag, which she later disposed of in the garden.

The sister informed their mother, who was aware of Guzete’s pregnancy.

“The sister informed their mother, who was aware that the offender was pregnant. When questioned, the offender fled but was eventually apprehended by members of the public, leading to her arrest,” said Ms Mufudza.
