FORT Rixon has been turned upside down after a scandal so bizarre that residents say it feels like living inside a twisted drama series.
A 48-year-old police officer, tasked with protecting the community, has instead been accused of terrorising it with his trousers down.
Sergeant-Major Richard Ndokanga, stationed at Fort Rixon Police Station in Matabeleland South, is at the centre of a storm after he allegedly went on a wild flashing spree, parading what some women described as a “scary humongous” manhood while groping them in a series of increasingly disturbing encounters.
The alleged antics have seen Ndokanga dragged before Bulawayo magistrate Takudzwa Gwazemba, facing five counts of public indecency. He pleaded not guilty.
The women’s stories, told in court, paint a picture of a uniformed officer who turned predator. Some women said they believed Ndokanga did not use his knuckles to knock on their doors as the noise was “a soft rumbling, drumming sound.” Some even said his giant manhood looked like the result of an enlargement experiment gone wrong. One woman said she was so traumatised by the sight that she now crosses the street whenever she sees a man in uniform.
“He should be jailed for a long time. I still have nightmares about what I saw,” said one of the women, tears rolling down her cheeks as she spoke in court.
The disturbing series of events began on 17 September at around 1PM. Ndokanga allegedly marched over to Sithokozile Lusinga’s home in the police compound. According to prosecutors, he demanded to be allowed into her bedroom. When she refused, he reportedly grabbed her breasts in full daylight before retreating casually to his own house. Lusinga, furious and shaken, immediately went to the police station to report the incident.
The very next day, Ndokanga allegedly struck again, this time targeting Cathrine Moyo. Pretending to be a harmless neighbour, he reportedly asked for a bar of soap to wash his T-shirt. After Moyo handed him the soap, she went to rest in her bedroom. Moments later, Ndokanga allegedly stormed into the room, dropped his trousers and underwear, and shamelessly dangled his manhood.
Moyo’s terrified scream pierced the air, sending neighbours running. Ndokanga bolted, but not before Moyo got a good enough look to later describe the sight as something out of a horror movie. She too wasted no time in filing a police report.
Later that same day, Ndokanga allegedly targeted Privilege Sibanda at a local sports bar. While she was standing at the counter, enjoying what was supposed to be a normal afternoon, the sergeant reportedly crept up behind her and pressed what witnesses later described as his “angry” manhood against her bums.
He allegedly whispered that he wanted to make her his wife. Sibanda recoiled in horror and shouted for help, forcing Ndokanga to flee yet again.
A short while later, Ndokanga allegedly went to Lindiwe Siziba’s home. Walking straight into her bedroom hut, he allegedly whipped out his manhood and waved it around like a grotesque trophy. Siziba screamed and pushed him out of the room before sprinting to the police station to report the incident.
The final victim, Musawenkosi Sibanda, told the court that Ndokanga came to her home, found her seated in the living room, and without uttering a word, stripped completely naked.
“He said he wanted to show me how big it was. I screamed and ran outside. I do not think I will ever forget that moment,” Musawenkosi said, shaking her head in disbelief.
The victims’ testimonies revealed the ripple effects of the alleged flashing spree.
“I suffered emotional distress. My husband no longer trusts me. My relatives and friends look at me differently now,” said Moyo, fighting back tears.
Lusinga added, “I think he enlarged it. The image keeps haunting me. My reputation is in tatters. I just want him behind bars.”
Musawenkosi told the court she now fears all strangers, saying her marriage has been left in ruins.
The community is shocked that a senior police officer could allegedly behave this way. Some residents say they no longer feel safe even walking past the police station.
Ndokanga remains behind bars after being remanded in custody. His trial continues.
