‘He bashes his wife, walks around house naked and shaves in the dining room’‘. . . he also doesn’t flush toilet after use’

A SERIAL wife-basher is accused of walking around the house naked, in the presence of his children.

Tafirei Matinyanya, who turns violent when confronted over his shocking act, has also been accused of not flushing the toilet, after use.

His wife, Tsitsi Matinyanya, has since applied for a protection order against him citing physical, verbal and economic abuse.

“This man is my husband and I need the court’s help for him to change his behaviour because I am tired of his antics.

“He has a tendency of walking around the house naked with the children around.

“He also shaves his beard in the dining room where our children sleep and the hair spoils their blankets,” said Tsitsi.

“As if that is not enough, he does not buy food for the family and he doesn’t pay school fees for our children.

“He also insults my relatives, who help us with our children’s school fees,” Tsitsi explained.

In defence, Tafirei said:

“I shaved my beard in the dining room because there was no light in our bedroom.

“She is lying that I don’t flush the toilet after use and she accuses me of walking around the house naked which is a lie.

“I have never insulted her relatives but I only told them that if anything happens to my daughter they will be responsible because they took her by force,” he said.

“The reason why she dragged me here is because I disciplined our child,” Tafirei said.

Magistrate Sharon Mashavire, who presided over the matter, granted the protection order in Tsitsi’s favour.
