A Harare woman accused her husband of buying big and poor-quality uniforms for their children.
Plaxedes Bota told the Harare Civil Court that her husband, Andrew Bowane, must leave her to buy proper uniforms.
She claimed $30 000 plus US$200 in maintenance for their two children.
Andrew offered $20 000 saying he is currently not employed. However, magistrate Ayanda Dhlamini granted $30 000 plus US$20.
During the hearing, Plaxedes said:
“I have a child who is attending ECD and a lot of things are needed and school fees is now up to $24 000 per child.
“He is a police officer and he used to earn US$200 every month before we separated.
“I need US$100 every month for uniforms and I prefer to buy uniforms alone because last time he bought big uniforms of poor quality.”
Andrew told the court that he now has a new wife who is expecting.
“Your Worship, I don’t think it’s practical for her to receive US$100 for uniforms every month. I can only offer $30 000 plus US$20 to cover everything,” he said.
Magistrate Dhlamini ordered Andrew to buy clothes twice a year and pay school fees for the children direct to the school.
