THE Zifa Southern Region Women Football League continues today with the clash between Hearts of Oak and New Orleans headlining the weekend matches.

Held to a 1 all draw by Borrow Jets last weekend, Hearts of Oak would not have wanted an equally tricky fixture but they have been paired against one of the league giants who were beneficiaries of a 3-0 win through a walkover following the non arrival of Sobukhazi.

The match promises to be a pound for pound affair although Hearts of Oak will have a slight edge over their opponents in terms of experience.

Hearts of Oak have the league’s leading scorer with 15 goals Ntombi Ndlovu, Happy Gumbo, Peace Kenende, Thabita Mpofu, Nobukhosi Ndlovu and Charity Ndiweni all very experienced players who have been in the game for a while now. They also have an experienced gaffer in Evans Netha.

“We are preparing well though we have a number of our regular players who have injuries but we will have to work with the juniors we have,” said Netha.

Table toppers, Inline Academy, held 1-1 by Hwange Ladies in their last match, take on ZRP Bulawayo at Milton High School this morning in a match that will equally be tricky for them, especially against a fresh ZRP Bulawayo side that has not been playing in the last couple of weeks due to work commitments on the part of their players.

ZRP Bulawayo manageres Gezelina Moyo conceded that they face a tough opponent but they were ready for the encounter.

“It is a strong team but we will see how it goes on the day of the match,” she said.

Her team will be built around striker Shellitar Zulu. Their defence will be marshaled by Sanelisiwe Sibanda, while Sithulisiwe Ndlovu will be the key player in midfield.

In other matches league punch bags Highlanders Royals will be home to Street Set at the club house while Sobukhazi takes on Blackboots at Mzilikazi High School.
