HERENTALS coach Paul Celestino Benza says the Students are on course for their best season in the Castle Lager Premiership.
Inspirational skipper Ralph Kawondera scored the only goal of the game as the Harare side ended a two-game winless run.
The win took the Students tally to 39 points are they are now 13 points behind leaders, and champions, Scottland, with 11 games to play.
“I am excited and that means we can now eclipse our record season points haul of 47. Now at 39 with 10 more games, we will surely get past that,” said Benza.
“It feels good to be back to winning ways.
“We needed this win and I am glad it came. The boys really wanted the win and they showed the hunger.
“We attacked well and defended well. This is a game that really mattered for us.”
It was Kawondera’s 11th goal of the season and he remains firmly in the run for the Golden Boot.
Ahead of this game, the Students had fallen to two successive defeats to Hardrock and Ngezi Platinum Stars.
Manica Diamonds remain deeply in relegation mire after accumulating only 16 points in 23 outings.
