Herentals coach Paul Benza has backed the team’s striker Tinotenda Benza to shine in this year’s edition of the Chibuku Super with the students setting themselves a final berth target.
After having been knocked out in the semi-finals last year, which was preceded by a heart break final loss the previous season, Herentals are confident of repeating history and secure a place in the final in this year’s edition of the Chibuku Super Cup.
In their quest for their target, Herentals coach, Paul Benza has tipped the team’s striker Tinotenda
Benza to lead the team to glory.
“Tino is very motivated and has been doing very well and is looking ahead to the tournament.
“He has been working hard in training and Chibuku Super Cup seems to be his favourite considering what he has done over the years and with how he has been assisting in our league matches and all that is needed is for him to turn the assists into goals.
“I am counting on him in this tournament and with the support of the other players we can achieve our target which is a final berth,” said the Herentals coach.
The Students begin their campaign with a date against Simba Bhora at Wadzanai Stadium in Shamva.
With Simba Bhora yet to taste defeat in their own backyard, Paul Benza is aware of the task that lies ahead.
“It is a very difficult game.
“We do understand that Simba Bhora have been doing well at Wadzanai Stadium this year and they haven’t lost a single game in the league but we are determined to end that on Saturday we want to be the first team to end the jinx,” said the Herentals coach.
Benza revealed that their target is to reach the finals of this year’s edition of the country’s knock-out football tournament.
“The Chibuku Super Cup is a different ball game altogether from the league game where a win is a must at the end of the day hence we are going all out to try to win that game and progress to the quarter finals.
“The last time we were knocked out in the semi-finals and a year before we lost us in the finals this time we are going to go all out to try and go all the way to the finals and we are confident that we can do it,” said Paul Benza.
