Highlanders FC had the footballing gods to thank after surviving a torrid second half against a dominant MWOS side, with the match ending in a goalless draw.
After looking the more threatening side in the first half, Bosso were pinned back for long periods after the break as MWOS raised the tempo but failed to convert their dominance into goals.
MWOS made a triple substitution around the hour mark, introducing MacSean Murambiwa, Marcelline Mlilo and debutant Dawid Ndeunyema, whose long throws immediately caused problems for the Highlanders defence.
Ndeunyema’s deliveries sparked a series of aerial attacks, unsettling Bosso, while Murambiwa nearly made an instant impact in the 65th minute, firing over the bar from just outside the box.
Highlanders coach Benjani Mwaruwari’s substitutions appeared to blunt his side’s attack, as he withdrew Never Rauzhi and Benjamin Adeogun—both lively in the first half—for Prince Ndlovu and Akim Nkomo, who struggled to influence the game.
Bosso’s limited chances included a 72nd-minute effort from Mongameli Tshuma, who blasted over the bar when well placed.
Despite sustained pressure, MWOS failed to find the breakthrough, with Highlanders holding on under siege to secure a fortunate point after being second best in the second half.
