Highlands win bowls tourney

Craven, Dereck Robinson, Dave Muirhead and Mani Silva, beat Alexandra Sports Club in the final of a  competitive encounter.
The tournament saw six clubs taking part — Alexandra, Borrowdale, Avondale, Highlands, Mabelreign and hosts City Bowling Club.
Bennie Wine, Mike Davies, Ray Whitney and Mike Ethan of Alexandra Sports Club settled for second place. While the men were taking part in the Bob Mitchell, the women were also on the greens playing in the Ethel Tomas tournament.
Alexandra’s skipper, Kerry Craven, believes the Ethel Tomas was a great success.
“It was a very good tournament. We  had good players and that made it competitive and it is good that everyone was excited on the greens” said Craven.
Craven, Heather Singleton, Marlion  Seager and Jan Ecob were key to Alexandra’s victory.
