IN a significant move towards national unity and progress, the Youth Council for Peace and Development (YCPD) is being launched in Bulawayo this morning.
This historic initiative aims to empower young leaders from diverse political backgrounds.
The event is being held at a local hotel in Bulawayo, hosted by the 4-H Zimbabwe Foundation.
Former National Peace and Reconciliation Commissioner Dr Tinashe Rukuni, Zimbabwe’s Attorney General Mrs Virginia Mabhiza, and Zimbabwe National Elders Forum Board member Father Fidelis Mukonori will attend the launch.
The political parties present at the YCPD launch include ZANU-PF, MDC, CCC, DOP, NCA, Free Zim, UANC, NPC, ZIPP, UZA, and ZCPD.
This groundbreaking initiative seeks to foster dialogue, promote peaceful resolutions to challenges, and actively contribute to the development of Zimbabwe.
In his welcoming remarks, Mr John Muchenje, Executive Director of the 4-H Zimbabwe Foundation, said the potential of the nation’s youth in shaping a brighter future is great.
“This initiative is designed to empower young leaders to engage in meaningful dialogue, create peaceful solutions to challenges, and actively contribute to the nation’s development,” Mr Muchenje said.
He said the critical role that Zimbabwe’s youth can play in driving change can never be over-emphasised .
“Together, we can harness the power of youth to drive positive change and peace in Zimbabwe.”
The formation of the Youth Council marks a vital moment in Zimbabwe’s ongoing efforts to unite its citizens, regardless of political affiliation, for the common good of the country.
By providing young people with a platform to voice their concerns and collaborate on solutions, the initiative aims to pave the way for a more harmonious and prosperous Zimbabwe.
The council will bring together a wide range of youth leaders, offering them the opportunity to tackle pressing issues such as social justice, economic development, and national unity.
The focus will be on creating a sustainable and peaceful future, ensuring that Zimbabwe’s young people are active participants in the country’s growth.
With this initiative, Zimbabwe takes a bold step towards an inclusive, peaceful, and progressive future, with the youth at the forefront of development and conflict resolution.
