THE Delta Platinum Soccer Academy holiday camp will begin at Robert Tredgold Primary School today. The academy caters for boys and girls who are under the age of 16. The activities will be on a daily basis until schools open. Former Highlanders player and director of the initiative, Tobias Mudyambanje said their aim is to develop sport from the grassroots.
“We want to develop sports at grassroots level,” said Mudyambanje.
He said the academy was meant to take the children off the streets during school holidays.
“I have partnered with the school (Robert Tredgold) in this programme meant to remove the kids from streets by keeping them occupied,” said Mudyambanje.
Delta Platinum Soccer Academy is set to partner with Young Blood Royal Academy of South Africa, which will see youngsters travelling across the Limpopo.
The academy is set to compete in the junior league.
Mudyambanje is appealing for more partners.
“We have faced sponsorship problems in past but I hope this time around sponsors will come on board and support us,” he said.
Mudyambanje played for Highlanders in 1986-1992 and he is a coaching instructor and a holder of Caf B coaching licence.
