SODOMISING two primary school pupils earned a Honde Valley man a 30-year jail term. The convict, Simbarashe Maganzo (31) of Kashiri Village, under Headman Muparutsa, will serve an effective 25 years after Rusape regional magistrate, Mr Livingstone Chipadza suspended five years of the initial sentence on condition of good behaviour.
Maganzo had pleaded not guilty, but was convicted due to overwhelming evidence.
In his defence, Maganzo, who was a self actor, accused the boys of falsely implicating him.
He said there was bad blood between his family and that of the two.
His victims are in Grade Four.
Mr Tirivanhu Mutyasira prosecuted.
Mr Mutyasira said Maganzo first abused a 12-year-old boy at an unknown date in April this year.
The incident happened around 10pm.
The complainant had gone to one Chigondo’s homestead where there was a party to welcome a new bride.
The convict enticed the victim with sweets.
Maganzo asked the boy to accompany him to the nearby Nyakwawo Shop so that he could buy him more sweets.
On arrival they discovered that the shop had closed.
“He then dragged the minor behind the shop and ordered him to remove his short. He drew a knife and threatened to kill the youngster if he resisted his advances.
“He proceeded to put on a condom before sodomising him once. He threatened him with death if he spills the beans,” said Mr Mutyasira.
In the second count, Mr Mutyasira said Maganzo approached a 13-year-old boy from the same school at one Manhenge’s homestead where there was another party to celebrate a new bride.
Maganzo first asked the boy about the whereabouts of his earlier victim.
The response was in the negative and Maganzo gave the second complainant some sweets again.
“He took the minor to a secluded place and told him that he could also engage him in deals which could result in financial benefits to him.
“After winning the boy’s confidence through sweets, he then produced a knife, wore a condom and pushed the minor to the ground before sodomising him once.
“The boy returned to the gathering crying and divulged the abuse to his mother. As he divulged the abuse, the other boy told village elders that he was also a victim of the same sexual predator,” said Mr Mutyasira.
Maganzo was arrested.
