A WOMAN believed to be a hooker, allegedly abandoned her one-year-old baby for two weeks as she went clubbing. Sharon Sibanda (22) from Mkoba 14 in Gweru allegedly left the child with her landlady pretending she would be away for a few minutes. Plaxedes Magaya, the landlady, ended up making a police report after the minutes turned into days and weeks. Sibanda had allegedly left the baby without food or extra diapers. She appeared before magistrate Mrs Elizabeth Magomere charged with neglecting a baby.

Sibanda pleaded not guilty and the magistrate remanded her out of custody to today. Prosecuting, Mr Edward Gwainda told the court Sibanda asked Magaya to look after her baby as she was on her way to Mkoba 14 Business Centre and promised to be back in a moment.

“However the accused person never returned home and was seen at a local night club at Mkoba 14 Business Centre after her landlady had reported the matter to the police,” said Mr Gwainda.

He said Sibanda left home on June 14, 2016 at around 5PM. The accused person never came back until Magaya reported the case to the police on the June 27, 2016.— @wynnezane
