Mr Vera said the hospital has been trying to make payment plans, but the patients were giving them wrong addresses on admission.
“We have been allowing patients to get treatment and pay later when they have the money, but people have been giving us wrong addresses,” he said.
Mr Vera said the majority of patients who seek medical services from the hospital are poor and cannot afford to pay.
He, however, said there are a few others who can pay but just do not want.
Mr Vera said the majority of the debtors are from the maternity department.
A normal delivery at the hospital costs US$150 while a caesarean section costs US$450.
