A BULAWAYO family is picking up the pieces after a ferocious fire ripped through their North End home, leaving nothing but charred rubble.
The inferno, which broke out yesterday evening, gutted the entire house and left the family of five homeless and devastated.
While the exact cause of the blaze is still under investigation, early suspicions point to a possible electrical fault that sparked the nightmare.

Despite a swift response from the North End Fire Brigade, the flames had already spread like wildfire by the time the trucks arrived. Efforts to control the inferno were hampered by the intensity and speed at which the fire consumed the home.
“We couldn’t save anything. We just watched our life go up in smoke,” said a heartbroken Mr Mandlenkosi Dube, the head of the household.
Among the ashes were school uniforms, textbooks, clothes, furniture and essential documents — everything gone in minutes.

Now, with school-going children left with nothing, the family is appealing to the public for any help; clothes, blankets, food, school supplies or financial aid, anything to help them rebuild.
“We’ve lost everything. We are appealing to kind-hearted Zimbabweans to assist in any way they can,” said Dube.
