HOMESEEKERS for Economic Development, an affiliate of ZANU PF, is committed to supporting President Mnangagwa’s vision to deliver houses to everyone under the mantra “leaving no one and no place behind” in line with Vision 2030, the organisation’s national chairperson, Mr Emmanuel Chiroto, has said.
Speaking at the handover of residential stands at Gilstone Park in Harare recently, Mr Chiroto said his organisation was committed to providing affordable housing stands to citizens.
“Homeseekers for ED is set to give out stands to civil servants, vendors, and other informal business owners at affordable prices,” he said.
“Citizens came forward and paid for the stands which we are giving out today in Harare, and last Wednesday we handed over others in Marondera.
“We plan to continue giving out stands every week in both Harare and Marondera. The aim is to improve urbanisation in Zimbabwe.”
The organisation’s chairperson for Harare Province, Mr Patrick Maphosa, who is overseeing the allocation process, said the initiative was in line with President Mnangagwa’s Vision 2030, which seeks to ensure that every Zimbabwean has access to decent and affordable accommodation.
“This programme benefits Vision 2030 as the President is helping the majority in lower-income households, ensuring no one is left behind,” he said.
“Since stands are usually costly, Homeseekers for ED negotiates with landowners to secure affordable prices for marginalised groups.”
Mr Maphosa added that the initiative was introduced by President Mnangagwa to promote inclusivity in the housing sector.
One of the beneficiaries, Mr Fredrick Bandi, expressed gratitude to the President and Homeseekers for ED for the opportunity.
“It is nice that we have gotten this opportunity, and we are happy that the President has given us places to stay,” he said.
Another recipient, Mr Munyaradzi Pashapa, said the allocation process was smooth and transparent.
“The process for getting the stands is going well, and we’re thankful that the President helped us get these stands. We didn’t have anywhere to live, and now we are happy that this has happened,” he said.
400 residential stands have been allocated to the Homeseekers for ED, and 32 people were present for the handover of the residential stands.
