HOW big is this coming weekend in terms of deciding the three clubs which will follow Kwekwe United into Division One next season?
There are still some nine points to play for and, for the first time in the history of the Castle Lager Premiership, all the members of its Big Three – Dynamos, CAPS United and Highlanders – still find themselves trapped in relegation trouble.
The Green Machine have the brightest chances of surviving after their priceless win over Manica Diamonds, which dragged the Gem Boys into the relegation danger zone. They visit Chicken Inn this weekend knowing that victory will virtually guarantee their survival.
However, they have the benefit of playing relegated Kwekwe United, who have been losing all their games, in one of their last three matches.
CAPS United, who boosted their technical team with the addition of their former midfielder Joseph Kamwendo, believe they could guarantee their survival in the next match.
Dynamos have a date at home against Bikita Minerals in what could be one of the biggest matches of their season.
The Glamour Boys have won two and drawn three of their last five league matches. The arrival of coach Kelvin Kaindu has given them hope that they can stage the Great Escape and if they pick all points against the plucky visitors, who are also fighting for their life, then DeMbare could breathe easier.
DeMbare’s other advantage is that they will play all their remaining matches at Rufaro. Bikita have won two, drawn two and lost only one of their last five league games. Highlanders have a tough trip to Shamva for a date against Simba Bhora.
However, the former champions have been struggling since they crashed out of the CAF Champions League qualifying phase of the tournament.
Their standards have dropped and their confidence appears to have been shattered. Bosso are winless in their last five games after drawing four games and losing one. Manica Diamonds host Ngezi Platinum Stars and they know if they lose this one then they would be doomed.
