ZAMBIAN gaffer Kelvin Kaindu has touched the hearts of the Dynamos family with a phenomenal coaching performance in the NINE matches that he has been in charge of the club.
It is quite strange, when looking back, that when the season started Kaindu was in charge of DeMbare’s biggest rivals Highlanders.
Lloyd Chigowe was the coach at Dynamos and he was terrible lasting only ELEVEN matches there.
MaBlanyo won only ONCE, drew FIVE and lost FIVE for a success rate of 24 percent.
Dynamos surprised everyone by replacing him with the nomadic Saul Chaminuka who had been jettisoned from Kwekwe Utd for poor results.
Chaminuka had a strangely similar tenure to Chigowe, lasting ELEVEN matches too, winning ONCE, drawing FIVE and losing FIVE for a success rate of 24 percent too. The Dynamos hierarchy briefly let Philemon Mutyakureva take charge of the away fixture against Chicken Inn which the team got clobbered 0-3.
At that time, Dynamos had played TWENTY THREE matches and accrued just SIXTEEN points.
Then they went radical, choosing Kaindu whose coaching and playing careers in Zimbabwe are synonymous with Highlanders.
Kaindu chose to work with Thomas Ruzive and the train was about to take off.
At that time, Dynamos were lying in SEVENTEENTH position, that is SECOND from bottom, and a massive SEVEN points away from the SIXTEENTH placed team.
At the same time, Dynamos were trailing their main rivals CAPS and Highlanders by TWELVE points, as the two teams were tied on TWENTY EIGHT points.
Since Kelvin Kaindu and Thomas Ruzive took charge, Dynamos has played NINE matches and won an impressive SIX matches, that is FOUR more than they managed in the TWENTY THREE matches before that.
That is a success rate of 77 percent.
Kaindu’s Dynamos are currently UNBEATEN in NINE matches so far, yet the team lost ELEVEN matches out of TWENTY THREE games under Chigowe and Chaminuka combined.
After scoring a paltry SIX goals in TWENTY THREE matches, DeMbare have now scored THIRTEEN goals in the NINE matches under Kaindu.
Where Dynamos conceded TWENTY ONE goals in TWENTY THREE matches, they have now been breached FOUR times in NINE matches.
Since Kaindu took charge of Dynamos, they have been the SECOND-BEST peforming team in the whole league with TWENTY ONE points, bettered only by championsScottland who have accrued TWENTY TWO in the same period.
More pleasing for Dynamos is the fact that they have reduced significantly the gap between them and their fiercest rivals Highlanders and CAPS United.
Where Dynamos were TWELVE points away from Highlanders after TWENTY THREE matches, they are now LEVEL on points with the same team NINE matches since Kaindu came in.
Where Dynamos were TWELVE points away from CAPS United after TWENTY THREE matches, they now trail the same team by a mere TWO points, NINE matches since Kaindu took charge.
Because of this new lease of life, Kelvin Kaindu’s Dynamos are presently tied on THIRTY SEVEN points with THREE other teams – Highlanders, Chicken Inn and Manica Diamonds – teams that were a mile from them before the Zambia gaffer came in. However, DeMbare lie beneath these three teams by virtue of an INFERIOR goal difference.
Kaindu inherited a goal difference of -15 from the previous coaches but he has managed to slash it down to -6.
With two matchdays left, Dynamos now lie TWO points away from the last relegation team, Green Fuel. This means Dynamos have slashed the SEVEN-point gap that existed between them and the team that lay above them after Matchday 23, and even have the comfort of enjoying a TWO points lead over the dreaded relegation zone.
This has been the revolution and brilliance of Kaindu in charge of Dynamos.
Two matches remain for him, away to Yadah and home to FC Platinum.
Whatever happens, Kaindu has been PHENOMENAL since taking charge of Dynamos after Matchday 23.
