The hosts’ goals came from goalkeeper Nonjabulo Dube who scored his fifth goal from the penalty spot, as well as striker Simbarashe Sithole, who scored his fourth goal of the season.
Following the win, How Mine are now level with ZPC Hwange on 39 points but have a game in hand. Bantu Rovers, who were on top, did not play this weekend.
Sheunesu Chaka, How Mine coach, said he was happy with the win and the team’s focus was on today’s game against Zimbabwe Saints.
“Our win was vital as it put us back at the top with a game in hand. The team had a great game but we are now focusing on our midweek game against Zimbabwe Saints which will not be an easy encounter,” Chaka said.
Saints were stunned 1-0 by Rufaro Rovers in Hwange on Saturday with coach Edmore Sibanda blaming poor officiating for the defeat.
“We had a goal disallowed in the first half. When we levelled at 1-1, he awarded our opponents a dubious penalty.
