How Mine 0 – 0 FC Platinum
FC Platinum survived a second-half onslaught from How Mine to secure a draw at Luveve Stadium in Bulawayo yesterday.
The visitors had goalkeeper Petros Mhari to thank as he produced some fine saves to deny How Mine, who were more marauding in the second half of the game and could have found a winner had it not been for the goal minder.
Both sides failed to create any clear cut chances in the first half with Nelson Maziwisa’s header that went just wide in the 26th minute being the only opportunity that fell to FC Platinum.
How Mine’s leading goal scorer Kudakwashe Musharu’s shot missed the target by a few inches in the 33rd minute.
The second half saw How Mine persistently charging at FC Platinum but they could not find the goal.
Wonder Sithole had his shot blocked in the 68th minute by Mhari and it was the same for Timothy January whose shot from the edge of the box in the 73rd minute found FC Platinum’s goalkeeper alert.
How Mine failed to make use of many corner kicks that came their way as they either went out or the ball was cleared by the FC Platinum’s defence.
FC Platinum head coach Lloyd Mutasa admitted his charges did not have a good day in office as they could not string passes together. He blamed this on the state of the pitch saying it was uneven.
“I think it is a fair result. We did not create many chances that could have given us a goal and you can’t win matches if you don’t,” he said.
Philani “Beefy” Ncube, the How Mine coach, was pleased with the team’s performance but not the result feeling one of their many chances should have produced a goal.
“We were playing against a seasoned team and I feel we put up a good performance and should have got a goal but unfortunately we didn’t score.
“We are now focusing on our next assignment against Triangle and hope we can get a better result from there,” he said.
