CONFIDENCE is a feeling of having little doubt about yourself and your abilities or a feeling of trust in someone or something. So many students don’t believe in themselves. They fear speaking in English, participating in class or being present at the assembly.
To become a more confident student, focus on setting realistic goals, embracing challenges, actively seeking feedback from teachers, celebrating your achievements, managing negative self-talk, and developing a growth mindset where you view mistakes as learning opportunities; essentially, believe in your ability to learn and improve, and don’t be afraid to ask for help when needed.
Ways to improve your confidence
Set achievable goals
Create personal goals that are challenging but attainable, allowing you to track your progress and feel a sense of accomplishment as you reach them.
Positive self-talk
Identify and challenge negative thoughts, replacing them with positive affirmations that highlight your strengths and abilities.
Embrace feedback
Actively seek feedback from teachers and peers, using it as an opportunity to learn and improve.
Practice self-reflection
Regularly assess your strengths and areas for improvement, acknowledging your progress and identifying where you can grow.
Develop a growth mindset
Believe that your abilities can be developed through effort and practice, not fixed traits.
Celebrate achievements
Acknowledge and celebrate your successes, no matter how small, to reinforce positive self-belief.
Ask questions
Don’t be afraid to ask questions in class to clarify concepts and actively engage in the learning process.
Participate in class discussions
Contribute to classroom conversations, sharing your ideas and perspectives. Don’t be shy, fearing that other students will laugh at you. Believe in yourself.
Find your strengths
Identify areas where you excel and leverage those skills to boost your confidence in other areas. Refuse to be defined by other people’s opinions. Remember, you are unique, you are a great person. Excellency is how to define you.
