Former JP band member falls on hard times

Maria Chiguvari

FORMER Jah Prayzah’s band member, Elvis “Congobileko” Chinounda, has hit hard times.

Congobileko says he is still job-hunting.

There are reports that his wife deserted him and he is now staying with his mother in Glen View where he is failing to make ends meet.

Congobileko, along with his friend Mbera, left the group in 2020, during the Covid-19 induced lockdown.

“At that time, the management did not consider us as workers.

“Jah Prayzah was good to us but his management changed everything for us workers.

“We started working with Jah Prayzah in 2010 at Club Lashers in Budiriro while under the management of Mama Filo where we worked as a team,” he said.

Congobileko revealed Keen Mushapaidze’s management took drastic measures which saw them losing their jobs.

“His management told us that the money we were receiving was too much for us, forgetting that we had worked for that money, I don’t have a problem with Jah Prayzah.

“When Gonyeti and Baba Harare left takashora kuti why vasiya.

“But, when Mbera’s mother died, Mama Filo was the one who helped with the funeral.

“Up to now there is no communication between us and him, we tried to communicate with Keen but to no avail,” he said.

Mushapaidze was not reachable for a comment.
