A Mutare woman last week successfully applied for a protection order against the wife of a man she had allegedly snatched. Josephine Mupito had to seek the court’s intervention to stop her boyfriend’s wife, Christine Mudzingwa, from coming to her parents’ house as well as assaulting her. Mupito told the court that she was in love with Mudzingwa’s husband and was promised marriage. When Mudzingwa got wind of the affair she started visiting her at her parents’ house where she assaulted her on different occasions.
“I need the law to protect me from Mudzingwa’s violent behaviour as she always comes to my parents’ house disturbing our peace. She even assaults me together with my parents and insults me in front of my siblings. I am tired of her behaviour and I can’t take it anymore,” said Mupito. Mudzingwa admitted to assaulting and insulting Mupito saying her husband is neglecting his family to take care of Mupito and her family.
“I have been suffering for the past three years since she fell in love with my husband. I will continue going to her place as long as she continues to have an affair with him. I have been married to my husband since 2012, but life changed when this woman came into the picture. I am now suffering because of her,” she said.
Mrs Chigodora granted the protection order and instructed both parties to keep peace and advised Mudzingwa to file a maintenance application if her husband is neglecting his children.
