Man fights ex-wife over custody

After seeing his children being ill-treated by their mother, a Mutare man has approached the courts applying for their custody. Harry Magadi appeared before Mrs Yeukai Chigodora last Monday applying for the custody of his two minor children from his ex-wife Esnath Mapungwana. “Your Worship my children are not living in peace. This woman brings several boyfriends into the house where my children will be sleeping. Their mother always comes home late at night.

“At one point my eldest daughter came crying saying she didn’t want to stay with her mother anymore,” said Magadi. However, in her defence Mapungwana told the court that his ex-husband was making false and unfounded allegations against her.

She denied ever having a boyfriend as well as coming home late. Mapungwana alleged that Magadi was lazy and is eyeing to be maintained by her once he has custody of the children. “How can I pay maintenance for someone who never paid lobola?

“He wants to get the custody of the children so that I will feed him along with our children,” she said. The matter continues on November 4.
