A 25-YEAR-OLD man from Moyoweshumba Village under Chief Mutasa has been punished for a violent knife attack on his young wife following a heated domestic dispute.
The couple, According to the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ), clashed on 14 July 2025 after the wife, aged 20, confronted her husband over his failure to take up family responsibilities.
“In anger, he armed himself with a kitchen knife and stabbed her once on the right breast and twice on the right hand before she managed to escape,” the NPAZ said.
The Mutasa Magistrates’ Court sentenced him to 24 months in prison, but 6 months were suspended for five years on condition of good behavior. The remaining 18 months were set aside on condition he completes 20 weeks of community service.
The NPA stressed: “Domestic violence remains a grave threat to the safety and dignity of women. Perpetrators must know the law will not spare them. Communities must speak out and protect victims of abuse.”
