SOME of Zimbabwe’s finest bodybuilders will continue with their dress rehearsals for the prestigious Mr Zimbabwe championship when they contest at the inaugural edition of the World Fitness Federation Mr Southern African in Zambia on September 26.
The Mr Zimbabwe contest will be held at Harare International School on October 18 after some of the athletes would have challenged each other on more than three occasions within a month.
Last week, Vincent Kandiyero came second in the Mr Gaborone Classics in Botswana where he finished ahead of compatriot Isaac Sugar Chimuchenga who was placed fourth.
Chimuchenga and Kandiyero would be joined by reigning Mr Zimbabwe, Champion Chiendaramwano, for the Lusaka show.
National Federation of Zimbabwe Bodybuilding and Weightlifting Federation member, Quiet Shangai, said they have given clearances for six top athletes to take part in the Lusaka event.
“We have given the green light for some of our athletes to contest in Zambia. The Zambians are hosting the Mr Southern Africa and they sent some invites to us.
“I am sure other countries like Malawi, Namibia, Botswana and South Africa will also be sending contestants,” said Shangai.
Already Chimuchenga has rolled up his sleeves after finishing behind Kandiyero in Gaborone last week where Gonste Sethsele was the overall winner.
“I want to say to my young brother Vincent that he should keep it up but we are going to meet again in Zambia and later in South Africa.
“What happened in Botswana should encourage Vinne but he should know that even big football teams lose some games at times,” said Chimuchenga.
