IT’S now four weeks since human waste was found in a clay pot by the main entrance at Chitungwiza Magistrates’ Court and, a month later, no one has attempted to remove it.
The incident has baffled many and officials say they are afraid of removing it because they claim this is part of some form of superstition and could “backfire” on those who remove it.
An unidentified person defecated in the clay pot and left it at the court’s main entrance.
It remains a mystery why someone would defecate in a clay pot and leave it at the main court entrance.
However, there is belief that this is all part of some dark art meant to “protect” a suspect whose case is being heard at the courts.
There has always been some wild belief that some people can influence outcomes in court cases through the use of some dark arts.
Some sangomas even come up with some wild prescriptions, including ordering suspects, or their families, to throw coarse salt into the courtroom which they claim has the power to influence magistrates to rule in their favour.
Witnesses, including officials who work at the court, have different theories.
One of them told H-Metro:
“We are still shocked about how this pot came about. No one has been able to remove it from the gate because no one knows the reason behind the act.
“The pot contains human waste.
“We assume that it could be some wild beliefs that led the person to defecate into that pot.
“It is scary when you consider that one can have the guts to do that and then put the pot at a public entrance.
“No one has touched it as people are too scared to touch something containing human waste inside.”
