‘Hungry’ man damages mum’s property

A 21-YEAR-OLD man who confessed to damaging his mother’s property because he was hungry was slapped with a three-month jail term.Amon Chifamba pleaded guilty to malicious damage to property charges when he appeared before Mutare magistrate, Miss Nyasha Kuture. It was the State’s case that Chifamba kicked his mother’s door at Number 5, Courtroom, OTS, Sakubva.

“He acted unlawfully by kicking the door for no apparent reason and therefore maliciously damaging property worth $16,” said Mr Mudadirwa.

Chifamba who is married, but went on to trouble his mother over food was sentenced to three months imprisonment. Miss Kuture, however, suspended the sentence on condition of good behaviour.
“Your Worship, I was angry with her because she had locked the door while I was hungry, so I kicked it,”
