NGEZI Platinum Stars coach Erol Akbay demanded consistency from his charges after watching his side being restricted by Hwange in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League tie at Boabab yesterday.

The platinum miners had to come from behind to earn a point after being forced to trail in the early stages of the match.

Ernest Gwitima gave the visitors an early lead in the seventh minute.

This was the second attempt of the three that came their way during the entire game and Gwitima headed in a Lucky Vundla cross.

Five minutes after the break, Bruno Mtigo then restored parity for the hosts when he came to the end of Barnabus Mushunje’s high cross.

Mushunje had worked his way from the half-way line before releasing his cross.

It was the same old story for Ngezi, who failed to convert some clear cut chances that came their way in both halves despite forcing Hwange to play second fiddle and defend deep.

First, Qadr Amini saw his long range effort being tipped a corner kick in the 70th minute before Keith Murera’s close range effort was parried away 15 minutes from time.

Mtigo could have grabbed his first brace for Ngezi 10 minutes before time after his long range effort hit the woodwork.

Despite being pleased with his charges’ performance, Akbay felt that lady luck was not on their side, insisting that his team needs to consistently pick up maximum points if they are to win the league.

“Every game is now a final. We have to start picking up points and be consistent in doing so.

“We played good football but I feel that luck was not on our side,” said the Dutchman.

Hwange coach Nation Dube was happy with the result, saying his charges had played according to instruction.

“We played according to our game plan and I think Ngezi should be happy with the draw,” said Dube.
