Hwange hold Platinum

visiting FC Platinum fought hard to outwit each other in a Castle Lager Premiership soccer match at the Colliery yesterday.
The hosts could have taken the lead early but crowd favourite Marlvern Longwe could not utilise a rare chance he got at the edge of the visitors box as he fired the ball  way off the mark with goalkeeper Tafadzwa Dube badly exposed. There was drama towards the end of the first half as Hwange will for a long time have an axe to grind with referee Bekezela Makeka who denied them what looked like a genuine penalty after the slippery Vimisai was felled by Khumbulani Banda in the box as went for the kill. With Hwange celebrating after the whistle, they were all shocked when instead he flashed a yellow card to Vimisai for diving.
Hwange raced into the lead in the 48th minute when Zekumabwire left Togara in a heap on the left flank before crossing for Longwe who obliged by banging home from close range.
Twelve minutes later FC Platinum were on level terms after Michelle Katsvairo connected a curling Charles Sibanda corner into the nets from a goal mouth melee. The ball deceived Hwange goal minder Timothy Sibanda with an awkward bounce before nestling into the nets.
