Hwange man fined US$200 for assaulting wife with cooking stick

A 35-year-old Hwange man who struck his wife with a cooking stick multiple times all over the body was sentenced to pay a fine of US$200.

The man, from Dinson Mine in Matabeleland North Province, committed the offence on 13 January.

In a statement on X, the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) condemned the gender-based violence (GBV) and said the man was fined US$200 or four months in prison.

“The offender struck his wife on the left eye and repeatedly hit her head and right hand with a cooking stick during an argument in their home,” the NPAZ said
