Hwange man nabbed for damaging neighbour’s property

A 39-YEAR-OLD man from Hwange in Matabeleland North province, ran berserk and damaged his neighbour’s property with stones while she was praying.

Edmore Muleya was found guilty of malicious damage of property by a Hwange magistrate and sentenced to 103 hours of community service.

The court heard on 26 January 2025 at around 9pm, the victim, Siphathiwe Mathe was in her house praying when she suddenly heard Muleya throwing stones at her house.

The culprit damaged 14 asbestos sheets, a grey deep freezer, a green bucket and a door. The value damaged is about US$614.

The matter was reported to the police leading to Muleya’s arrest.

In another similar incident, a man from Hwange has been sentenced to 10 months in prison after he assaulted his neighbour with a wooden stick for allegedly stealing some money from his phone pouch.

The victim sustained a fractured left wrist and a cut on his left eyebrow. He was taken to St Patricks’ Hospital for medical examination.
