coincide with the official opening of the joint.
With posters splashed around Harare, the gig never took place because the sungura musician passed on that very night at St Anne’s Hospital, where he had been hospitalised for two weeks, after his  continued to deteriorate.
The Hwenje’s gig follows hard on the heels of the Mbizo memorial gig, where Alick Macheso, Progress Chipfumo and Peter himself treated multitudes of fans to top-notch entertainment yesterday.
Peter confirmed the gig, saying he would fulfil his late father’s wish to play at the venue, adding that the gig will also serve as a belated memorial show for fans of the late Dhewa who could not attend the Mbizo bash.
Dancer Beverly Sibanda, who recently had a brush with the law, will be the supporting act.
The two have shared the stage on several occasions and their encounter is expected to ignite a revelling mood among music fans.
Just a year old in the showbiz industry, Peter has displayed a high degree of tenacity and has also improved his stage work, choreography and intonation from the time he took over the Utakataka Express.
On the other hand, Bev has endeared herself with multitudes of fans, when she took up dancing with the Sexy Angels,  nearly a year ago.
While some of her dance routines have been described as suggestive, if not downright raunchy, her popularity continues to grow, with some of her fans saying that her two-day incarceration actually boosted her popularity.
