Music Crossroads takes artistes on tour

Club Shanga, Mokoomba and African Destiny which have become permanent features in European and regional music festivals but people here do not know much about the groups,” said Music Crossroads director Mathias Bangure.
Music Crossroads Zimbabwe has already acquired a bus, trailer and instruments to use on the tour.
“Promoters want big names to woo the crowds and in the past we tried to have the music played on radio, but it was a futile exercise.
“So we will be going on a countrywide tour promoting the groups so that they will be able to sustain themselves in the long run,” Bangure said.
Bangure said they would not be playing in bars because they were targeting the youths.
Some of the individuals and groups that are expected to take part in the showcase include Bongo Love, Mokoomba, Progress Chipfumo, First Farai Gwarimba, Gwindingwi, Amara Brown, Club Shanga, Sukuzonke Stars, Orchestra Valembe, Nalion Jasi and Amazulu.
Music Crossroads Zimbabwe provides young Zimbabwean musicians with the opportunity to grow through music and demonstrate their potential on the world stage.
Because of lack of resources to young musicians in Zimbabwe, MCZIM plays a vital role in developing and nurturing young talent, providing them with necessary support to enable them to grow their products.
Jeunesses Musicales International, an international music organisation, initiated music Crossroads Zimbabwe in 1996.
Aimed at improving self- awareness and social inclusion of young African individuals as well as becoming a resource for developing the Zimbabwean music infrastructure, MCZIM is proud to have launched the careers of hundreds of artistes nationwide.
These artistes include Progress Chipfumo, First Farai, Munyaradzi Munodawafa, Willom Tight, Bongo Love, Liyana and Ihawu Lesizwe, who now enjoy strong national recognition.
