‘I am not a homosexual’

Weekender Correspondent
A MUTARE teenager shocked the court last week when he demanded tests to prove that he was not a homosexual. This came to light after Robert Mbengo had been dragged to court by his half brother, Tendai Mbengo, who was seeking a protection order against him.

Tendai claimed that Robert was in the habit of coming to his house and breaking door locks together with Tambudzai Phiri.

However, Robert told the court that Tendai was in the habit of defaming his character by telling everyone hat he was a homosexual.

“He has been defaming my character by calling me a homosexual. I want him to prove to this court whether I am one or not because I am now tired of it. I beg the court to provide me with tests to prove Tendai wrong,” said Robert.

He told the court that Tendai had evicted him from their late parents’ house despite a court order barring him to do so.

Responding to his brother’s allegations, Tendai did not deny having called his brother a homosexual, rather he insisted that Robert was the one who disturbed his peace by visiting him and breaking locks on his doors.

“If he won’t allow you back into your parents’ house regardless of the court’s order that he take you back, report him to the police and he will be charged with contempt of court,” said Mrs Chigodora.

A binding over protection order was granted to both parties.
