BARCELONA star Neymar has confirmed that Manchester City are interested in signing him, with the forward not ruling out a future move to the Premier League.
The 23-year-old has enjoyed a stellar calendar year with Barca – helping lift the La Liga, Copa del Rey, Champions League, European Super Cup and Club World Cup titles.
Neymar arrived back in the Spanish city on Sunday morning after enjoying a Christmas break and revealed to the media he is aware of City’s interest in him.
Speaking about it at El Prat airport with a smile on his face, Neymar was quoted as saying “Yes, yes,” before adding “I don’t know, life is long,” when pressed about ruling out leaving Barcelona one day.
Despite speculation linking him away, the Brazilian’s current deal at the Nou Camp expires in the summer of 2018. Talks over a new contract are ongoing at present with Neymar ‘optimistic’ of it being renewed.
And Neymar’s future is the talk of one Barcelona-based newspaper with Sport reporting that Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is desperate to land him from their eternal rivals.
The Catalan publication claim that Neymar has become ‘Perez’s obsession’ as they look to make another marquee signing.
According to Sport’s Joaquim Piera, Perez has been continuously trying to set up a meeting with Neymar’s father, Neymar Santos Snr, in an attempt to pull off the transfer he so desires and get the ball rolling on a new era that ‘will not feature Cristiano Ronaldo or Rafa Benitez’. – DAILYMAIL.
