FORMER Castle Soccer Star of the Year, Stewart “Shutto” Murisa, has revealed that he is not related in any way to Teashaun Murisa, a highly rated London-based prospect, who has signed his first professional contract with English Premier League log leaders Arsenal.

Teashaun Murisa is a 17-year-old right-back, born to Zimbabwean parents and was raised in England.

He is eligible for Zimbabwe.

Social media went into overdrive with suggestions that Teashaun is son to former Darryn T, CAPS United, Dynamos, Highlanders and Bidvest Wits forward Stewart Murisa.

Stewart, who had tried his hand at coaching in his post-playing career, is also now based in the United Kingdom.

Yesterday he told Zimpapers Sports Hub from his England base that he had been surprised by social media claims that he was the father to the Arsenal starlet Teashaun.

He added that his only son, Stewart Jr, had since stopped playing football.

According to reports, Teashaun has been progressing through the Arsenal youth ranks and is regarded as one of the promising talents in the academy set up.

“I am happy for Teashaun’s progress being a football person but he is not my son.

“Stewart Jr is my only son. He once played football but he has now stopped.

“A lot of people have been phoning me endlessly, wanting to know if Teashaun is my son.

“Let me clarify that the boy is not my son. I only have Stewart Jr.”

Teashaun Murisa’s deal formalises his status within the club’s development pathway and positions him for potential elevation to higher youth and senior levels.

The teenager, who was born in the United Kingdom to Zimbabwean parents, has already attracted attention within the Arsenal system.

Earlier in 2025, he was among academy players invited to train with the first team ahead of a UEFA Champions League fixture, underlining the club’s growing confidence in his potential.

Teashaun Murisa has featured primarily for the club’s Under-18 side, although he is known for his versatility, having previously operated in midfield before settling at right-back.

Youth observers have described him as technically sound and effective in breaking up play while maintaining tidy distribution.

It could also be a significant development for Zimbabwean football as Teashaun is viewed as part of the next generation of Diaspora talent that could be blended with the homegrown players in the making of a strong Warriors outfit.

Teashaun’s professional contract represents the beginning of what could be a crucial phase in the player’s career as he continues his development within one of Europe’s most respected academies.
