I believe in myself – Mutasa

challenged the Glamour Boys supporters to keep rallying behind the team, reports Godknows Matarutse.
DeMbare will take their show to Mutare today for a high-profile friendly match against Shooting Stars at Sakubva that has gripped the imagination of the eastern border city.

Mutare has opened its arms to embrace Premiership football and the two teams will be given a police escort from Penhalonga turn-off, starting a roadshow that will pass through the Meikles Park, Dangamvura Community Hall and back into Sakubva.

The Wild Boys will unveil their partnership deal with Mupfumi Tours and mark their move to Mutare, which will be their new base.
Mutasa said his team had gone through a bad spell, but he remains confident of resurgence.

“We are treating this game seriously and it’s part of our training for our next league match against Black Mambas.
“The team has been playing well and it’s only the goals which have been missing and I want to assure the fans that they should come and witness their team playing because we need them just as much as they love their team.

“In our last match against Stars we played well and I think the scoreline was not a true reflection of the game because we dominated possession throughout the match and had our strikers been more accurate, we could have scored more than three goals,” said Mutasa.

The Wild Boys lost 0-1 to DeMbare at Rufaro on Sunday in a match where the Glamour Boys needed a penalty to win.
Mutasa said he was going to field the strongest possible side for the friendly against Shooting Stars and other players, who have been out through injuries, will get a chance to play.

“We are going to field the strongest possible team and we are urging all our supporters to come and witness our progress. The majority of the players have recovered from injuries and some of them will feature tomorrow (today).

“Thomas (Magorimbo) is likely to start having been sidelined for some time and Mukamba (Denver) is fit again, Guthrie (Zhokinyu) and Milton (Makopa) have started light training and we expect them to be back soon and I’m sure it will enable us to have a large pool of selection.

“Morale is high and everyone is raring to go and this week players have been very live at training, scoring goals and I’m sure they will carry that form to the field. I have always said what happens at training can only be reflected during the match and I’m positive of the team scoring more goals against Shooting Stars.

“We are likely to retain most of the players who did duty on Sunday and adding some few changes,” added Samaita.
Mutasa also welcomed the move by the Wild Boys to take Premiership action to Manicaland.

“Considering that there are so many Harare teams in the Premiership, I think it’s a good idea to spread soccer to different parts of the country.
“I think people of Mutare will welcome the move and rally behind them,” said Mutasa.

Shooting Stars’ coach Partson Ndabani has promised a tough afternoon for the Glamour Boys.
“The match is of importance to us, we want to show the people of Mutare that we are coming to give them good football.

“We are going to field a strong side especially the one that did duty against Dynamos last week and maybe one or two players whom we intend to sign during the window period,” said Ndabani.
Ndabani said the Wild Boys will get it right soon.

“We came when the team was not playing well and since our arrival the team has improved a lot and we are still working hard to make sure that we get out from where we are at the moment.
“By going to Mutare I think it’s going to help us in rebuilding the team into a strong competitive side.

“There are a lot of good players in Mutare which need to be identified and we have already started the process of talent search with some guys who are based there.
“People of Mutare should come and witness us playing against the most decorated team in the country so that they can judge us against the best.”

Shooting Stars’ chairman Lewis Matindife confirmed that there was going to be a roadshow before the match starting at Christmas Pass. The Wild Boys have agreed partnership deal with Mupfumi Tours.
Mutare businessman Esau Mupfumi, who has been fighting hard to bring Premiership football to the city, will be the guest of honour.
