A MUTARE man shocked the courts when he offered $20 as maintenance for a minor child he sired with his ex-wife. Admire Mudama was hauled before the courts last Thursday by Katherine Kuredza who was accusing him of abandoning his child. Kuredza told the presiding magistrate, Mrs Annie Ndiraya, that Mudama never took care of his child since they divorced in 2013.
She demanded that Mudama should pay $90 for the upkeep of the child.
“I work as a vendor, Your Worship, and the profit I get is too little for me to maintain the child alone.
“He should pay $90 so that the child can enjoy normal life like other children,” said Kuredza.
In response, Mudama said he could only afford to pay $20 as maintenance for the upkeep of his child as he has other two children.
“I can only afford to pay $20 because I have other two minor children that I am also taking care of.
“My salary is $250 and I have my play-slip to prove it and therefore $20 will be enough,” said Mudama
Mudama was ordered to pay $40 with effect from March 30.
