I cannot stand my abusive son, woman tells court

Failure to withstand continuous insults and threats from her son left an elderly woman with no option but to approach the civil courts praying for protection. Loice Jeyacheya told the court that she was suffering at the hands of her abusive son Albert.

“I have had enough of his insults Your Worship. He accused me of being a witch and a prostitute. He took my bricks and my $200. He is in the habit of breaking my property. When I reported the matter to police he did not stop the insults and even pocked my head with his fingers. I pray Your Worship that you grant me protection,” she said.

Albert cared less in his response.

“When did I took your bricks and can you please tell me when I took your money. I never did all she is saying and I am not opposed to her application,” he said.

“Your worship I am a business woman and I buy goods from Mozambique. When I was away in Mozambique, I received a call from neighbours telling me that Albert had taken all my bricks. I rushed back to my homestead. He had taken the bricks to his own stand. I then ordered some boys to ferry them back to my house. He came home and shouted me. He said he wanted to make sure that his stand is secured by placing bricks there.”

Mrs Anniah Ndiraya granted the protection order.
