FORMER footballer, Patrick Folani, says he was not involved in stealing whiskey from a liquor shop in Kwekwe at the weekend.
Folani was reported to have walked out of the liquor shop without paying for a bottle of whiskey.
He was in the company of two women.
He said his crime was simply to stand next to the suspect.
“There are people fighting me and they are the ones who implicated me.
“I was just enjoying my beer standing close to the suspects.
“People just implicated me because they saw me standing close to the ladies who were captured on CCTV.”
He added: “I feel hurt that the media only focused on me leaving people who were actually involved in the incident.
“I did not steal anything and I am willing to cooperate fully with the authorities to clear my name.”
Patrick’s brother said: “The guy captured in that footage has since settled with the bar owner.
“Patrick is the guy in the green jacket close to the two ladies in the CCTV footage.
“He did not steal any whiskey. That lady with a coat jacket was captured clearly in that footage doing her shenanigans.
“Patrick has not neglected his family as reported, he actually stays with his wife.
“All these people circulating negatives about my brother are enemies.”
