DANIEL ‘‘DYNAMITE’’ DUBOIS has revealed becoming a dad gives him fresh motivation to hit the top again.
The secretive Londoner — who is preparing to fight British heavyweight rival Fabio Wardley — has announced he is the proud father of baby Zion. DDD, 28, and his partner Raissa will celebrate their son’s first birthday later this month. He told SunSport: “My Zion, yes, that’s it — it’s all good!
“I have my boy now, he adds to my armoury. He’s motivating me for this, even more so now.
“I can be someone for him to look up to when he comes of age.”
In 2023, Dubois went to Saudi Arabia for a make-or-break clash with US drug cheat Jarrell Miller, who trades off a Big Baby nickname.
And Dubois stole the show by winning the verbal war before battering him in the ring.
Now he has little Zion, the trash talk has become a beautiful reality.
He remembered: “I went into the Jarrell Miller fight telling him I was his daddy.
“But now I am ‘The Daddy’. Funny how life goes sometimes.”
For all of his 17st of pure muscle, Dubois can often seem like a nice boy in a tough old business. But when he snubbed the handshake offered by Wardley on the stage at their press conference to launch May’s fight in Manchester, he was not playing up to the cameras.
He said: “I was trying to mug him off! It wasn’t that at all — the back-and-forth was good. But we have a date now to hurt each other. We can just be friends after the fight.
“This is a sport and a business. It’s a gladiator-sport-business all rolled into one.”
Many Brit heavyweights have met earlier in their careers — and Dubois and Wardley are no different. But while Dubois was earmarked as a future star from the age of nine, Wardley was working in recruitment and a hobby boxer until his 20s.
