THE city is abuzz with excitement as the highly anticipated iCansi Fashion Fest returns on November 30.
This year’s theme, “White with a Touch of Africa,” promises to showcase the best of African fashion, art, and culture.
ICansi Fashion Fest co-founder Noliwe Mhlophe explained that the theme “white with a touch of Africa” symbolises the harmonious blend of modern trends and traditional African culture.
While fashion is constantly evolving, it’s essential to preserve and celebrate the unique African identity within contemporary designs.
The festival, now in its second edition, brings together renowned designers, models, and artists from across the region.

This year’s line-up boasts renowned designers from across the region, including, Silethemba Sibanda (Thembie Creations, Botswana), Brightman Dlamni (Tocar Label, Victoria Falls), Albert Jeyacheya (Albeah Authentic Wear, Mutare), Musa Selemani,Ncominkosi Sibanda,Penelope Lacha and Noliwe Mhlope (co-founders).
Reigning pageant kings and queens, such as Sthembiso Muchena, Vivian Maseko, Zanele, and Royce Gavi, will strut their stuff on the runway.
“We’re celebrating African royalty and culture, embracing our heritage while showcasing modern fashion trends, this festival was born and bred in Bulawayo, “The city of Kings and Queens” KoNtuthu Ziyathunqa.
“We are saying let the kings and queens in Bulawayo come out in their royal splendour and embrace creativity, art, fashion, food and entertainment that our own have to offer,” said Noliwe.
ICansi Fashion Fest aims to promote local talent, showcase Bulawayo as a fashion tourist destination, and leave a lasting legacy inspiring appreciation for African culture and art.
“Our legacy is to live the world a bit more enlightened in our culture, the voice of Bulawayo speaking for the arts a bit more louder and to have an impact not on a social level but to move the hearts of people to open up to our art and hear our message,” said Noliwe.
