Ikabort Masocha at Mbabane Citizens

SWAZILANDaS MTN National First Division outfit, Mbabane Citizensa flirtation with Zimbabwe-born coaches continues with former DSTV Rangers coach Ikabort Masocha their current target.

Having taken charge of the Citizens pre-season training sessions in the last 10 days and a 0-3 international friendly match defeat against a ABC Motsepe League outfit at the weekend, Masocha was hoping for a deal this week.

The Zimbabwe-born mentor is hoping against a repeat of a Lazarus Magaya arrangement with the ambitious side.

Magaya was made to conduct pre-season preparations for Mbabane Citizens without putting pen to paper last season.

a?I have been training the team but nothing has been agreed as yet. I am hoping something comes up this week,a? said Masocha.

Mbabane Citizens are a largely youthful ensemble armed with a never-say-die enterprising type of player that spreads their concentration throughout the 90 minutes of regulation time and promoted sides Matsapha United and Malanti Chiefs will provide a perfect testimony.

And should Masocha finally sign up for Citizens, it will spark hopes for a Zimbabwe coaches title winning hat-trick in the MTN National First Division after Tarisai Changara who won it with Tambuti (2015/ 16) and Saul Chaminuka bagged the 2016/ 17 title with Matsapha United.

Meanwhile, Citizens might end up clutching onto thin air should they take eternity in securing Masocha as another offer, from Mozambique, is legging in and the Zimbabwean might just be frustrated and walk away.

a?Yes, there is an offer from Mozambique but I have to be professional and wait on Citizens before considering the Mozambique offer. But as long as Citizens take their time and delay everything then I might find myself in Mozambique,a? said Masocha.

Swaziland has been a regular home for Zimbabwe-born coaches among them Lloyd Mutasa, Phil Mbofana and Julius Chakupewa.

Meanwhile, Saul Chaminuka arrived this week to put a stop to speculation over his future at newly promoted premiership outfit, Matsapha United.

Chaminuka had been holed up at his farm in Chivhu for three weeks. a @NoelMunzabwa . .
