A BULAWAYO man has been fined $50 after he was found in illegal possession of skin lightening creams. Nhamoinesu Musara, 38, was charged with possessing unregistered medicine when he appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Sibongile Msipa-Marondedze.

He pleaded guilty and was fined $50.

“You’re a first offender who pleaded guilty to the charge and didn’t waste the court’s time, pay a fine of $50. All the skin lightening creams have been confiscated by the state,” said Msipa-Marondedze.

Prosecuting, Nkathazo Dlodlo said on May 7, police officers from Njube ZRP were deployed to carry out a stop and search operation.

“They were deployed to operate at Mpopoma suburb where Musara resides,” said Dlodlo.

The court heard that the police officers stopped Musara who was carrying a black satchel.

During the search the police found six 120ml Caro light creams, one 130ml extra Clair, 18 tubes of 15 grammes Betasol cream and 13 tubes of Epiderm.

“The police officers also found seven 30 grammes lemonvate creams and three 15 grammes Diproson creams,” said Dlodlo.

He told the court that Musara was escorted to Njube police station and the matter was referred to CID drugs.
