I’M VERY SORRY, SAYS TRONIX AMID FIERCE BACKLASH OVER HIS OUTFIT

HWANGE-BASED content creator Tronix says his extraordinary outfit was never intended to publicly shame or mock the values which matter to Zimbabweans.

He has come under fire for the outfit he wore at a function in Harare at the weekend. Tronix has since issued a public apology following fierce criticism over his choice of outfit. “I did not intend to publicly shame their values,” he said.

The content creator came under scrutiny, and fire, from some social media users after appearing at the event dressed in an outfit that sparked debate over his real gender.

Following the backlash, Tronix apologised to his family, colleagues, supporters and others who may have been disappointed or offended by his appearance. In his apology, Tronix said he never intended to embarrass or disappoint the people who look up to him, insisting that his choice of clothing was not meant to publicly undermine their values. “It was never my intention to embarrass or disappoint people who look up to me,” Tronix said.

The content creator acknowledged that his appearance had caused concern among some of his followers, prompting him to address the controversy publicly.

He said he understood why some people reacted negatively and expressed regret over the situation.

“I acknowledge that my outfit has caused concern among some of my followers,” he said.

“I apologise to my family, the people I work with and those who have always supported me.”

The controversy has once again highlighted the growing scrutiny faced by Zimbabwean content creators, particularly when they attend high-profile social events where their appearance can quickly become a topic of discussion online.

For social media personalities, fashion has increasingly become part of their public identity, with outfits often attracting as much attention as the events themselves.

In Tronix’s case, the criticism centred on what some followers viewed as a departure from expected African dressing and values.

The discussion gained traction online, with the content creator ultimately choosing to respond rather than allow the controversy to continue without clarification.

The apology comes at a time when Zimbabwe’s entertainment and digital content landscape continues to grow, with creators increasingly becoming public figures whose personal choices can generate widespread conversations.

While social media has provided creators such as Tronix with a platform to build audiences and establish their brands, it has also exposed them to instant public feedback, criticism and debate.

Rather than dismissing the criticism, the Hwange-based creator chose to acknowledge the reaction and apologise to those who felt disappointed.

As conversations around fashion, culture and identity continue to dominate Zimbabwe’s entertainment space, Tronix’s experience shows how quickly a single appearance can become a talking point in the digital age.
