FIVE hundred records practitioners from Government Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) are gathered in Nyanga this week for the first annual symposium for records and archives professionals.

Hosted by the National Archives of Zimbabwe, the five-day event seeks to assess organisational readiness to adopt new formats and systems of records management in a rapidly digitising era.
The National Archives, mandated to acquire, preserve and provide access to documentation in all formats comprising Zimbabwe’s legal and historical records, is convening the meeting under the theme: “Digital records and archives for the future: Preservation, Access and Security”.

Panellists drawn from academia and Government departments began delivering expert presentations today on developments in records keeping.
The symposium runs from Monday to Friday.
