Cde John Mafa has said.
The party, he said, was gearing towards campaigning for approved candidates ahead of harmonised elections at the end of the month.
“We do not encourage people to stand as independent candidates because even if one is not satisfied with the way things went, they should swallow their pride and accept that their time will come. There are many other ways of expressing their disappointment through the internal party channels,” he said.
The party, he said, was bigger than individuals. The remarks come in the wake of Zvimba North aspirant Ms Marian Chombo who last week filed her papers to stand as an independent candidate alleging unfair treatment in the primary elections which saw incumbent Dr Ignatius Chombo emerging winner.
Cde Mafa said as a province, the party would move to campaign for the approved candidates so that it reclaims seats lost in the 2008 harmonised elections. Zanu-PF lost six national assembly seats out of 22 in Mashonaland West and all urban local authorities.
Meanwhile, the chairman said the provincial executive would meet tomorrow to map out strategies to galvanise the party and consolidate strongholds ahead of elections.
