Visiting Indian Minister of State for External and Parliamentary Affairs Mr Shri Vellamvelly Muraleedharan, yesterday paid a courtesy call on Speaker of the National Assembly Advocate Jacob Mudenda at Parliament Building yesterday where they discussed ways to enhance economic cooperation
Zimbabwe and India share cordial relations and India and Indian companies have investments in several sectors that include education and health.
Apart from the discussions, Minister Muraleedharan also extended an invitation to the Speaker to visit India at a time that is convenient to both parties. They had also shared their parliamentary experiences especially that of India which is the world’s largest democracy.
“The Speaker was especially interested in laws relating to ease of doing business, so we exchanged all this information,” said Minister Muraleedharan.
They also discussed improving bilateral trade, plus trade and investment in pharmaceuticals and other health equipment production, and technology transfer.
The Indian government has also provided assistance to Zimbabwe in the education sector especially in the fields of science and technology and donated Covid-19 vaccines.
The Minister said the Speaker would have an opportunity to meet those in these sectors when he visits India.
Minister Muraleedharan met President Mnangagwa on Monday where ways to improve economic cooperation between the two friendly nations were discussed.
